The issue of Taiwan, as one of the disputes between the United States and China, has gone through many ups and downs in the past decades. Despite Washington's official commitment to Beijing to respect the sovereignty of one China, during the Biden administration, the United States has taken contradictory actions such as military presence in the region, selling military weapons, and establishing diplomatic relations with Taiwan. These actions, which led to the provocation of Taiwan for independence, provoked China's reaction. This article has chosen the foreign policy of the Biden government towards China as its research goal by relying on the sources collected in the library method and using the descriptive-analytical method in examining and analyzing the findings. In this article, the theory of aggressive realism and John Mearsheimer's concept of restraint are used. Examining the foreign policy of the United States in different eras shows that the foreign policy of this country towards communist China has been a function of the conditions of the international system and the status of China in this order. The findings of the article show that during the transition period, the United States has focused on restraining its competitors, especially China, to manage its own decline and competitors' lead. Accordingly, during the Biden era, the United States is trying to curb China's increasing power and ambitions by increasing military cooperation with Taiwan in the form of a balancing policy and direct control of the region, as well as by transferring responsibility to regional countries.
