Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze the implications of the ongoing reconfiguration of power within the U.S.-centric international order and to identify an optimal strategy for the Islamic Republic of Iran. Employing a descriptive–analytical approach and utilizing documentary research through written and electronic sources, the study addresses the following question from a realist perspective: What consequences have the foundations of the global order experienced in the era of power reconfiguration within the U.S.-led international system, and what are the optimal strategies for the Islamic Republic of Iran to position itself effectively within the emerging order? The findings indicate that the redistribution of capabilities in the international system has altered both the configuration and functions of states, resulting in consequences such as geopolitical tensions, intensified competition and rivalry between the two major powers, China’s emergence as a rule-shaping actor, and U.S. efforts to restore its hegemonic position. Such developments have significant implications for the future role and presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran at both regional and global levels and generate new requirements for its foreign policy. Accordingly, Iran’s foreign policy and economic diplomacy need to be recalibrated in line with these transformations.
